It is a pintail flat to vee low rocker board that has a flat deck and boxy rails, keeping volume on two thirds of the board and getting thinner on the tail part. Once you learn how to carve with it, this board is like a magic wand. It shines in good solid hollow conditions. Available from 6’6 and 8'2. 2+1 variation: The 2+1, with two hand foiled side fins, is a whole other story: softer rails, a dome deck and a wider tail. It is an all round version of the Carcabueno. Works best on point breaks. Available from 6’6 and 7’8. Gun variation: Same template. Different type of rails with a simple and safe flat to vee shape. So I made a 10’6 triple stringer board based on the Matou template and added a baby square tail which I had been enjoying for the past 3 years. I loved and still love the Matou but I wanted to shape a variation of it while keeping its weight, narrowing the tail and the nose, adding a rounder rail and making it shorter: 9’8. The board pictured here is the final product, which also happens to be my favorite. It is more of a gunny template but its rails make it glide in small waves. It excels in bigger waves from 4 to 8 feet which I surf the most. One day i had this idea of small and light single fin for summer, something to surf and carry on these mellow sumer conditions. I surfed the board the whole summer and loved it! JJ Model - JJ Model Here is a design we made with Giacomo Perez Dortona, it is coming from several inspirations, from Takayama, Liddle and Frye. We wanted an eggy outline, thin round rails and a soft tri plane bottom for a fast board that hold turns well. He brought the first version to El Salvador and that was it ! We refined the design over the past 2 years allowing the board th work on a single and 2+1 fin set up. Between 6’7 and 7’7 looks like being the good size for the board.
